Here’s a quick report on last weekend’s action at the Long Distance Triathlon European Championships over at Tampere, Finland.

Finland was the one of the main races of the year for me and a first shot at an age group event for team GB.  So I had no idea what to expect.

Well next year is olympic year and as a warm up for the main event in the Summer the Tiree 10k Fun Run will take place on Saturday 26th May 2012. After a little bit of confusion with hall bookings the date is now confirmed so it would be great to see as many people as we can out and about on Tiree’s roads and beaches for the event. Put it in your diary and feel free to recruit as many friends and family as you like. Just a quick post to say that the trophy for the Scottish Cross Triathlon Champs (off road triathlon) is staying on Tiree for another year. I managed to win the championship again which this year was held at St Mary’s Loch near Selkirk. Next event is now the Long Distance Triathlon European Championships in Finland which take place on 21st August. I’m not looking forward to the 4km swim but once out of the water I’m confident I can take back a few places on the 120km bike and 30km run. I’ll post results when I’m back later in August.
