Well last weekend Joe Kavanagh and myself travelled up to Fort William for the Big Ben Nevis Triathlon which was the Scottish Championships race. I raced this last year and was hoping to improve on 9th, though Joe has built up a much more memorable reputation; providing encouragement to everyone and dishing out water and food to tired triathletes many of whom remembered him from last year. Joe’s test will come next weekend when he takes part in the Eyemouth Sprint Triathlon. I’ll post a report when we get back from that.
Anyway, the Ben Nevis race went well and after feeling a bit sluggish on the swim and then hammering the bike I entered the run feeling fresh. Nearly killed myself running up Ben Nevis trying to catch people and it was only when I got to the turnaround point having seen nobody I realised I was in the lead. Managed to keep in front all the way back down to finish first with 12 minutes on second place. Also beat the course record by 6 minutes! Anyway enough bragging! It was another great event by the No Fuss team and a really friendly atmosphere with great encouragement from all the spectators. Definitely an event I would recommend and a nice trophy to go in the gym!
Next event; Eyemouth Triathlon on 26th September.
