Who’s it for: It’s suitable for runners of mixed ability, though we would suggest you will get most out of the camp if you can comfortably run a 10k. The focus is on trail running, and it’s ideal for those wanting to improve confidence and ability on mixed terrain and building up to longer distance. This is a camp for people who like to run off the beaten track, exploring new places, whilst learning from each other, and from experienced instructors. This is ideal for runners looking to step up to Ultra distance, or for experienced runners wanting to break through a plateau.
- 7 day programme
- Great coastal trails using part of the Tiree Ultramarathon course
- Friendly and supportive instructors
- Inclusive group atmosphere
- Amazing island environment
What it looks like: Here’s a typical plan for what the week could include
Saturday: Arrival and straight into some short Cross Country circuits, a beach run, video analysis and an introduction to Functional Strength & Pilates
Sunday: Coastal run with intervals, hill reps and speed work. Secret beaches to explore, seals and basking sharks likely to be seen. Afternoon bike/run session and then a full Pilates & Flexibility session
Monday: Three Peaks trail run – get the amazing views from Tiree’s ‘mountains’. Afternoon Functional Strength workshop and beach relays, and then a dip in the sea if you dare!
Tuesday: The Golden Scallop! Team Challenge – how lost can you get on an island 11 miles long! Plus: The Eliminator – solo handicap challenge. It’s a big day. There’s also 1:1 coaching time in the afternoon and then a beach BBQ in the evening
Wednesday: Brick Session: Bike & Run – great cross training workout. Run analysis feedback and then an easy afternoon with a flexibility workshop and massage treatments available. Evening surf or paddleboard for those wanting a try at something different
Big Thursday: Tiree Ultra – in four stages and covering as much or as little of the 35 mile course as you like. With or without bikes to help – this is your challenge, and we’ll support you all the way round. This is a big day out, and we’ll finish with a recovery stretch workshop. Night walk and star spotting to round off the day with a chance to enjoy the clear skies and northern lights (by arrangement!)
Final Friday: Team relays, hidden beaches, bike and run, and a chance to bring everything together before the final nights prize giving and celebrations.
It’s a huge week – but you’ll have plenty of support, and the programme is made to suit each persons ability and aspirations. We’re always finding new places to explore, new sessions to try, and new challenges to give you – sign up and we’ll see you on the beach!
Travel: Travel to Tiree is by ferry from Oban (Calmac) or flight from Glasgow (Flybe). The camp starts on Saturday afternoon to allow arrivals the same day, and we finish the following Friday evening to allow departure on Saturday morning.
25% discount available on flights from Glasgow. Contact us for details.

“I’ve come home from Tiree stronger, fitter and lifted to a whole new level of training. You’ll be pushed, encouraged and surprised by your own ability by a great team no matter what fitness level you’re at.”
“The camp left me feeling really positive about myself. I had jumped a few mental hurdles and came out smiling. If you do nothing else, go to the next Tiree Training Camp!”
