Results are out for this years Tiree 10k Fun Run. All the results are on the 10k page and there’s also photos up on Facebook – click on the link on the right to get to the Tiree Fitness Facebook page.
Thanks everyone for making it another successful event, there was a great atmosphere throughout the day and Tiree produced some lovely sunshine to help enjoy being out and active amid stunning scenery. Once again the Tiree Pipe Band started all the runners off along the beach, including a few runners in fancy dress raising funds for the Gobi Desert Trek. After the event there were teas and cakes with profits going to the local Duke of Edinburgh group. We also had a dance in the evening which raised funds for the PTA and the Tiree Sports Foundation – so a very grateful thank you for not only racing around 10kms but also for raising funds for these important community groups.
On the topic of racing; the finish of the Kids Fun Run was the closest we’ve ever seen with Colin and Finn just behind the eventual winner Jack Straker. A sprint for the line and three candidates for the emerging Team Tiree!
But well done everyone who completed any of the events, including the Power Pushers and all the runners and walkers. We had a total of 173 people taking part.
The Team prizes this year were slightly controversial with the full results showing a strong performance from Bellahouston Harriers. So Lothian I’m afraid in retrospect you were second place, although I imagine the champaign is long gone so we’ll have to wait till next year to settle the score! Well done all the teams and next year we will also have Team Tiree appearing in fully branded team kit so watch out!
The date for next years event will be confirmed this next week so I’ll update the site with that information. We’re hopefully putting together a few other events for later this year and there’s also the Tiree Sports Foundation that will be launching in the very near future so look out for updates on this site.
Until then, thanks again and happy training.
