UPDATE ON 2020 EVENT
Here’s the promised update on Tiree Ultra 2020 – this has been emailed to all current entries.
The Tiree Ultramarathon this year will unfortunately not be happening. This isn’t the outcome I’d hoped for, but there really is no other option. I know this is a disappointment, and having had most of the event season written off already, many of you were looking forward to at least being able to get to Tiree for a late season run. I’ve looked at various ways we could put together an amended event, but it’s become increasingly clear that there are so many factors to which we couldn’t guarantee a solution; from accommodation provision, transport, medical cover, safe marshalling, distancing, access to land……. together with the added challenges of being on a small island with a capable but limited health care service and a vulnerable population – there’s just not a solution in there that would be at all responsible. I know you all understand and appreciate these things already, so this decision is likely no surprise. All I can say is sorry, I’m sad that we’ll not be seeing you this year, but I really hope to see you all back on the start line next year.
So, what will happen now is that all current entries will automatically be rolled over to next year, with the event date being Sunday 5th September 2021. If you can’t make that date or you no longer want to be on the start list, drop me an email and I’ll refund your entry fee. I’ll do everything that I can to make 2021 super special, plus you get an extra year to prepare, so perhaps that’s welcome news for some.
So keep on running, remember all the great reasons we love this sport, and be encouraged by the fantastic community that has emerged from these events and been strengthened through these times. Next year will come around soon enough, and the startline countdown on the beach will begin. We hope to see you there. Happy running everyone.
